Fire Permit Summary and Information 2024 Season
FIRE PERMITS
Reminder to obtain a fire permit pursuant to the Fire and Emergency Services 1990 –
All KCGO Members
Prior to the start of the season, please ensure that you obtain a Fire Permit pursuant to the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990. Alternatively, please ensure that you can comply with the requirements of the Commissioner’s Notification for burning. Members are reminded that –
- It is an offence to light a fire without a fire permit or without holding the belief that you can comply with the conditions in the Commissioner’s Notification;
- To find your Fire Warden – follow the link to the Rural Fire Services website – ‘

- The Commissioner’s Notification cannot be relied upon if:
- The paddock to be burnt adjoins a highway or main road; or
- The paddock to be burnt adjoins urban houses or other intensive activities (such as commercial or industrial land).
If either of the above circumstance is applicable you must obtain a Fire Permit from your Fire Warden. If you cannot contact your Fire Warden, please contact Rural Fire Service Townsville on 4796 9082.
