INFORMATION SESSION

Energy prices continue to soar however the need for a source of energy is essential given irrigation requirements for the growing of sugar cane in the Burdekin region. Solar is a means to reducing the cost of energy consumption. Interested in gaining a better understanding of the benefits of utilising solar in order to improve farm viability? KCGO has arranged for a presentation by Horan & Bird to explain how solar can be utilised in farming operations, detail are in the attached flyer. KCGO has invited two local growers to the information session who will provide insight into systems they have installed on their farms to include:

  • Experience with installation of system
  • subsequent savings made
  • pump cost/benefit analysis

Water Quality Improvement Regional Forum

WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT REGIONAL FORUM

Dept of Agriculture and Fisheries will be hosting a regional forum to be held in Townsville at Rydges Southbank on 12th and 13th November to share information and options for treatment systems for water quality improvement and how these systems can be utilised to achieve sediment, nutrient and pesticide reductions.

Any members interested in attending, please refer attached agenda for further information.

Ayr Data Driven Decisions Workshop

AYR DATA DRIVEN DECISIONS WORKSHOP

Are you a farmer wanting to understand what’s really happening on your farm? Why is collecting data important? What can you do with data?

Then come along to our free workshop for some simple tips and tools to manage data for better management decisions!

Practical Decisions – By discussing how to efficiently collect data and through demonstrating data collection instruments, we’ll help you understand how to incorporate data insights into your decision making process!

Improved Efficiency – Hear real-world case studies from producers outside your commodity. Learn about how they’ve realised potential and increased efficiency by using data to make decisions on their property. Case studies will include: Fertiliser Application, Asset Monitoring, Individual Animal Management and Farm Business Record Management.

Farm Ready Skills – This workshop will demonstrate how an increasingly Digital Environment affects reliable data collection, efficient use of resources and analysis of objectives to achieve conclusions supported by evidence and much more!
